President's Message
letter from Toledo Opera Guild President Pat Nowak:
Hello Friends, Members and Opera Lovers;
WOW, what a crazy time! I hope you are healthy and safe as we journey through unsettled times.. The Toledo Opera Guild will try soon to enjoy another amazing season of fun, friendship, and financial support. We plan to kick up our heels at Brunhilde parties and enjoy lovely bistro luncheons, and we have many more exciting events planned.
Unfortunately, at this time we wait, in the spirit of the guild's mission: to financially support the Toledo Opera company and to spread awareness of and appreciation for this amazing art form right here in NW Ohio. We will continue to form connections with local community members and area businesses, whose volunteering and contribution help make it all possible. Remember, being a member of TOG is not just about being part of the opera but also of a whole community working hard to enhance life here in the Toledo area. Please join us soon as we are able to support the arts in Toledo and insure that the quality of life in NW Ohio remains strong.
This year's Toledo Opera performances are currently on hold and we wait to hear more about future productions, school tours and naturally Toledo Opera Guild events.
Remember the Toledo Opera does so much in community. They have education outreach programs that reach over 23,000 students each year from pre-school through high schools throughout NW Ohio and in Michigan, a resident artist program, and pre-opera discussions that are presented to the public at no charge. When you attend a Toledo Opera Guild event, you are helping to support these efforts, as well as the stage productions. And TOG has so many fun ways to do that! We routinely sell out seats for our Celebrity Wait Night -- and our fabulous Woman to Woman - the Art of Community fashion show. Everything from speakeasies to glamour is a hot ticket for this group! As soon as we are able we will be enjoying events again.
Please drop me a note or come to an event when the country opens - I would be pleased to meet you and spend more time with you, sharing the history and excitement of the Toledo Opera Guild. Become a member - our guild members have so faithfully supported our mission for so many years and raised thousands of dollars to keep the arts alive in NW Ohio. We know in our hearts that with your support, Toledo Opera, celebrating 62 years, will hopefully enjoy countless more in the future.
